The Fourth Floor
Certification
Not a badge. Not a marketing tool. A standard that does not move.
The Mark of Extraordinary.
The Fourth Floor Mark is the most demanding certification in magic. It is not awarded generously. It is not given to things that are merely good. It is reserved exclusively for the extraordinary — and extraordinary is far rarer than the industry likes to admit.
When a product carries the Fourth Floor Mark, it has been personally tested and performed by Lloyd Barnes under real-world conditions. Not in a controlled demo. Not in a rehearsed video. In front of live audiences, where nothing is guaranteed and everything counts.
The mark signals that Lloyd would stake his professional reputation on this release. That is not a small thing — and it is never treated as one.
The Fourth Floor Mark cannot be bought. It is not a paid endorsement. It is not an affiliate arrangement. It is not given to friends. It cannot be purchased, negotiated, or earned through any commercial relationship.
It is earned on merit alone — or it is not earned at all. Most magic never reaches the Fourth Floor. The mark is prestigious precisely because that remains true.
Four classifications. All four. Without exception.
Every submission is measured against four non-negotiable criteria. A creation must satisfy all four to be considered. There are no partial certifications. There are no exceptions.
Original
Without question, the creation must be original and bring something genuinely new to the table. No imitations. No re-packaged ideas. No incremental tweaks presented as innovation. The Fourth Floor does not archive the derivative.
Advance
The effect must advance the art of magic. The landscape of modern magic often appears bleak, with artists trying to drag us back to the dark ages. Fourth Floor exists to push forward. If your creation does not move the art forward, it does not pass.
Real
Must be able to be performed live, in front of a real audience, where nothing is controlled. If Lloyd hasn't or wouldn't perform it himself under real conditions, it does not pass. Studio magic is not magic. Real is real.
Extraordinary
Finally, there must be something extra special, something extraordinary about your creation. Certain pieces of wonder have a synergy that can't be tangibly explained that makes the hairs on the back of your audience's neck stand up. This is what extraordinary is and that's what we look for.
When you see the Fourth Floor Mark — all four classifications have been satisfied.
No exceptions have ever been made. No exceptions will ever be made.
Two paths to the mark.
Store Placement
Your unreleased creation earns the Fourth Floor Mark and is offered a place in the Fourth Floor store. Your work is placed in front of the most discerning buyers in magic — those who already understand what the mark means.
Release Certification
Your already-released creation earns the Fourth Floor Mark, which you may use in your advertising and promotional materials. A mark that carries genuine weight in the market — because it was earned, not purchased.
Submit your creation.
